So even though I’m going to make an effort to talk about other things, this is still a running blog so I wanted to write a quick training update.
Things have been plugging along. I guess I haven’t seen/felt any big improvements, so I kind of feel like I’m just slogging along at the moment. All my workouts have felt hard. Even my easy runs, my effort feels harder than my pace reflects. Because of this, I am still not wearing my watch unless I have to. I have about 1-2 hard effort days in my schedule, but nothing has pace times attached to it, which is good. I think if there was, I would end up really beating myself up about it. Instead I’m going on effort, which is nice.
As I mentioned is my last post, my legs felt pretty beat up on last Saturdays easy run, so Nichole edited my plan a little, and I had a rest day Sunday and Monday. The only thing that makes me feel better is that I was warned that around this time I would start to feel like this. So going with that, I’m right on target, and am hoping things start to turn around a little now. I have a few easy runs this week, and harder effort of 6x600m (which I think I will do at the track, yippee!), and a long run of 13 with some hill bursts. I’m really excited about the 13 miler, and I’ll probably do 13.1 just because J . I haven’t run that distance since July, so if I can get it done and feel good, I’ll be pretty happy.
I didn’t tell Nichole this, but I had a hidden goal of wanting to get up to 13 miles in November. No real reason, just for my own peace of mind really. So I’m really happy to have this kind of distance base going into the winter.
I really can’t wait for that “yea I nailed that workout” feeling though – I miss that. But for now, I’ll be happy just putting in the time, and I know each time I lace up my shoes it’s bringing me close to my goals.
Another thing, let me know if you appreciate these training updates (although they probably won’t be as “wordy” as this one). It’s nice for me to have a record to look back on, but if you peeps like ‘em it might become a weekly post, if not, maybe I’ll keep my mouth shut…maybe.
I love weekly posts! But I'm your coach, so I'm biased toward hearing more of the "story" :).
ReplyDeleteI say, keep 'em coming!!!
