Weekend Roundup

Hello and Happy Easter/Sunday!  I hope everyone had a great day!  It was such a nice sunny day here, perfect for Easter.  I was terrible and remembering to take pics this weekend, so please forgive me.  I will get better, I promise!  Heres the recap....

Saturday

Workout : Day 7  LiveFit Trainer: Chest & Triceps
                Elliptical: 20 Min.
                 Yoga: 1 hour

I was so excited cause today my gym had yoga for its Saturday a.m. instructor class.  It wasn't just any yoga, my favorite yoga teacher was there to lead the class this morning.  She doesn't teach regularly anymore so it was a real treat to everyone that came.  My hammies totally needed it, it felt SO good.  If you want feel free to visit her blog here. She is also a very talented photographer, so check out her web page.  She is just so great :)

I didn't eat any breakfast before I left for the gym so I was starving when I came home.  I had the usual eggs (undocumented).  Whenever I delay eating for a long time after I wake up/workout, it totally throws off my day eating-wise.  I was SO snacky all day.  That afternoon my main squeeze and I took a trip to my second home Trader Joes to pick up a few things for the dish I was making for Easter.  It was really cloudy all day so we didn't do much, and I ended up taking a nap.....which leads to more snacking....ugh, not a good weekend of eating for me.  Again, one of these days I will learn to just go with it and not make myself feel guilty.

J-love and I watched the movie Drive that night.  Not good, even though it had Ryan Gosling to stare at, it was a really slow moving movie, kinda boring.  I give it two thumbs down :(
you're beautiful Ryan, but this movie sucks

Sunday

Easter!!! Which is just an excuse for me to eat candy.  I woke up and had to find my Easter basket this morning, which was deliciously filled with Peeps and awesome chocolate from our local candy store - SO GOOD!  I have a theory that if I'm going to have to eat candy then I might as well eat it all in one sitting so I dont have to look at it anymore.  So I proceeded to eat it all....and immediately felt like I was going to toss my Peeps all over the place. So much sugar!
I was feeling guilty about all the candy, so my much more self controlled and athletic hubs suggested a quick 1 mile run.  I suited up in the new workout pants and Easter bunny gave me and we were off like a herd of turtles.
disregard my messy house...
We officially decided that this was the 1st annual Easter Bunny Run!  Here are the rules in case you want to partake next year with us.
1.  Eat every piece of candy in your Easter basket.  Seriously, not one jelly bean left behind.
2. Dont drink any water.  Dehydration is key
3. Dont brush the sugar off your teeth.  You'll run faster with fuzzy teeth.
4.  Run 1 mile, try not to barf
5. Done!   Now go brush your teeth cause your breath smells

After that fun filled morning I made a quick salad from one of my magazines.  It turned out really good.  Here's the recipe in case you want to try it yourself.
Quinoa A L'Orange Salad
2 cups water
1 cup quinoa ( I used Trader Joes Tricolor Quinoa)
1 cup grape tomatoes - halved
1/4 cup diced celery
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp grated orange rind
1/2 tsp sea salt
black pepper to taste

Bring water to a boil, add quinoa, simmer for 15 minutes or until water is absorbed.  Pour into large bowl and let cool
Once cool, add tomatoes, celery, and parsley
Mix the remaining ingredients and add to the quinoa mixture
Toss well to mix.

Then we were off to my aunts to have a good ol' family dinner.  It was so nice to see a lot of my family again.  I'm pretty lucky to have a family that makes an effort to always gather on special occasions and holidays.  Plus, lots of cousins are starting to have babies so there are a lot of cuties scootin' around!

It was a really nice day of tasty food and family.  I hope everyone was able to enjoy their day with loved ones as well!  See you all tomorrow!

p.s. I was asked by a few of you about the protein bars that I use.  I will post that recipe tomorrow along with the link on where you can go - gotta give credit where its due!
